Have any of you guys started Half Broke yet? Any feedback so far? I just finished it and totally loved it, especially since I loved The Glass Castle and it had the same kind of feel..
Yes, Half Broke is for February and we will discuss in March, and then the book we choose this month we'll discuss in April :) So glad you were able to find it!
I haven't started it yet. Do I need to have read The Glass Castle first? Someone told me it was a sequel, I have been wanting to read it so maybe now is the time.
I think Nat is the only one that can answer that for sure, since she is the only one that finished it. I think that you don't because its actually just her grandmother's story, however, put Glass Castle on your list cause its an amazing read.
Bought a copy today, after realizing I was not going to be getting my copy in time through the library. It is a popular book. And, I have forgotten how expensive hard back books can be. But it sounds like it will be worth it. We better hurry and decide on the next book so I can get on the waiting lists that are forever long at the library.
I just finished Half Brok Horses and really enjoyed it. I will have to take down some notes so I don't forget by the time our book review comes around. How does the book review work? I am sure I am out because of the time difference.
Andrea, I think you should read Half Broke Horses first and then Glass Castle. Half Broke Horses gives you back ground on her family and I think would makes Glass Castle more interesting.
I just started Half Broke last night and am really liking it as well!
Les I think with the reviews, obviously we can't all be on at the same time. I thought for the most part if we could shoot for a general time frame for it to begin, so that the one in charge would be responsible for starting it at a given time, but everyone could leave their comments as they could get on. When it's your turn for review, we would just know that the timing would be off, and maybe you could give us a general ballpark at the time when you think we could expect it.
I had basically imagined the reviewer leading with a question or two, but really there are no rules. Whatever you deem appropriate for your book. My girlfriends online bookclub even does contests sometimes, ie. bakes a cake and decorates it in regards to whatever book they are reading. Anyhow, we can make this as low-key or extravagant as we want. I made it so that we would all be notified of comments on the blog as well. How does that sound???
We will be reviewing The Rembrandt Affair on Tuesday, April 12th at 9:30 p.m.
